KMS is looking for talented and experienced medical audio typists to join their panel of transcribers. If you are interested in transcription jobs from home and are looking for a flexible working schedule that allows you to manage your own workload, being a KMS transcriber could be perfect for you.

We are always interested to hear from experienced medical transcribers who have a wide range of sub speciality knowledge.

Please note, you will need a Windows PC, Microsoft Office and a transcription kit such as NCH’s Express Scribe or an Olympus transcription module.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What type of work will I be allocated?

    We will do our best to try and allocate work that is suitable for your experience.

  • How do I get paid?

    KMS pays panel members a pre-agreed rate per minute of dictation. KMS create a report of your transcription for the month for you to check before you raise your invoice to us for payment. This is then paid by BACS directly into your bank account on the 2nd working day of the month. You will be self-employed and will need to register as such with HMRC. You will be responsible for paying your own tax and national insurance.

  • Do I have to commit to a set number of hours each day?

    No. You will be contracted on a freelance basis and as such you determine how often and when you want to work. Your commitment to us is when you request work it is completed by the pre-agreed time.

  • What equipment?

    You will need a Windows PC/laptop with Microsoft Office and a broadband/fibre internet connection. You will also need a professional transcription kit.

  • Can I apply to become a home-based typist?

    You will need to have recent medical secretarial experience and be based in the UK, as we are unable to send our clients’ data offshore.
